South West residents are getting their first look at the new $451.1 million Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment, with the release of detailed design renders.

The renders offer the community a glimpse of what to expect when the redevelopment of Western Australia's largest country hospital is complete.

Main works are set to commence in early 2025 and once complete will deliver additional medical and intensive care beds, an expanded emergency department, increased operating theatre capacity, as well as new and expanded maternity, birthing and neonatal services.

Works will also include a dedicated new mental health observation area and expanded mental health inpatient facilities, as well as new clinical equipment including sterilisation and support facilities.

Importantly, the redevelopment will deliver WA's first regional training, education and research centre to support staff across all health disciplines to upskill and complete training pathways.

Comments attributed to Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

"I'm pleased to be able to share these design renders with the local communities - which offer a first look at the transformation taking place at Bunbury Regional Hospital.

"With an investment of $451.1 million, this is by far the biggest redevelopment of a country hospital ever undertaken in Western Australia."

As stated by Bunbury MLA Don Punch:

"The new training, education and research centre will help us attract and retain the best and brightest clinicians to regional WA, driving innovation in healthcare with a focus on rural and remote communities.

"We're future-proofing healthcare delivery for the people of Bunbury and the South West region.

"It is really exciting to see this project moving forward and positioning the hospital to meet the needs of our growing community."
