The iconic Twin Falls gorge at World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park will re-open in 2026 after a major infrastructure upgrade.
Artist impressions released today offer a first look at the new elevated and interconnected boardwalks and walkways that wrap around the Northern Territory site.
A new cantilevered staircase across the escarpment will give visitors a remarkable view of the gorge and the spectacular 150-metre-high waterfalls.
The day use area, amenities and car park will also be revitalised.
The project is part of the Australian Government's $216 million infrastructure upgrade at Kakadu to help boost jobs and tourism.
The design has been developed in consultation with, and is supported by, Traditional Owners. Works are expected to start in the 2025 dry season.
Twin Falls is a significant site for Traditional Owners and one of Kakadu's major tourist spots.
Sacred site clearance has been managed through the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority in consultation with Traditional Owners.
