First NAIDOC Event Held at Adelaide's Biggest Mosque

Adelaide's largest mosque, Mahmood Mosque, hosted its first successful NAIDOC week morning tea on Sunday 7th July. The event was attended by Hon Kyam Maher MLC, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector.

The morning tea featured a Welcome to Country delivered by Uncle Allen Edwards Snr, followed by speeches, and the presentation of a NAIDOC Week Award to Uncle Allen Edwards Snr.

Speeches were delivered by Imam Kamran Tahir of Mahmood Mosque; Hon Kyam Maher MLC; Jason Downs, CEO of Reconciliation SA; Deputy Mayor Cr Edgar Agius OAM JP of the City of Charles Sturt; Dr Munawar Rana, President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association; and Uncle Allen Edwards Snr.

Following the official program, guests enjoyed a sausage sizzle and morning tea.
