Naoto Ohtake

I am deeply honored to have been appointed as president of Science Tokyo.

Born from the merger of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tokyo Institute of Technology, Science Tokyo will set sail on October 1, 2024, with the mission of "advancing science and human wellbeing to create value for and with society." Through open dialogue, I aim to unify our diverse academic community from the start, and as one dynamic team, put into practice the core values of Science Tokyo - exploring and freely integrating knowledge and technology without constraint of preconceptions, continuously challenging existing assumptions and approaches to enable bold reinvention, and celebrating individuality to foster a rich culture of creation - and share them with the world.

Science Tokyo will rise to the challenge of pioneering new academic fields and industries, addressing urgent societal issues such as infectious diseases and the shift towards carbon neutrality. With a multiscale approach, we will envision a truly desired tomorrow for the individual, for society, and for the planet, formulate educational and research initiatives based on these goals, and embrace our role in creating a better, brighter future.
