Five Arrested After Multi-Vehicle Crash in South Wentworthville

Five men have been arrested following a multi vehicle crash and an alleged assault in Sydney's west today.

About 3.40am today (16 October 2024), emergency services were called to the M4 Motorway, South Wentworthville, following reports of a multi vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were told, initially a white Isuzu truck allegedly collided with another vehicle before multiple other vehicles were involved in the crash.

It is believed the driver of the truck – a 30-year-old man – was assaulted by four men before they left the scene.

The driver was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital for further treatment, under police guard.

Following inquiries, police stopped a grey Toyota Kluger on Great Western Highway, Westmead, where they arrested three men – all aged 30 – a short time after the incident.

Following further inquiries another 30-year-old man was arrested on Cumberland Highway, Merrylands,

Police also conducted search in the truck and Toyota SUV where they allegedly seized 30 boxes of illegal tobacco from the truck and an amount of cash worths about $42,000.

Both vehicles were seized to be forensically examined.

One man was taken to Granville Police Station, and three men were taken to Parramatta Police Station where they are assisting police with their inquiries; a fifth was taken to hospital in stable condition.
