Five Charged After Stolen Car Rams Police Vehicle in Macleod

Heidelberg Police have charged two women and three men after a police vehicle was allegedly rammed by a stolen vehicle in Macleod this week.

Officers caught sight of an allegedly stolen white Toyota Corolla sedan in Strathallan Road about 4.45am on Tuesday 16 July.

Police attempted to intercept the Toyota before it allegedly reversed at a fast rate of speed into Wilson Street.

The Toyota allegedly collided with a pole and a fence before driving forward, ramming a police vehicle and coming to a complete stop.

Officers swiftly arrested three men and two women.

No one was injured in the incident.

A 35-year-old Macleod man has been charged with aggravated intentional exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, theft of a motor vehicle, negligently deal with property suspected to be proceeds of crime and drug offences.

He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 8 October.

A 22-year-old Mill Park man, a 28-year-old man of no fixed address, a 20-year-old Doreen woman and a 23-year-old Lalor woman were charged with theft of a motor vehicle and negligently deal with property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

All four were bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 4 December.
