More than $67 million in WA Student Assistance Payments have already been distributed, providing important cost of living support to more than 350,000 school students and their families across the state.
Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Tony Buti today urged the approximately 29 per cent of eligible Western Australian families who are yet to claim their payment(s) to do so before Term 2 ends on Friday.
Since the claims period opened on 15 April 2024, the WA Student Assistance Payment has provided important cost of living relief, helping WA parents and carers with costs associated with sending their children to school - such as school uniforms, books, excursions, equipment and other essential items.
Families can receive payments of $250 for every secondary school student and $150 for primary and kindergarten students, with claims remaining open until 11:59pm this Friday 28 June.
Claims can be lodged through the ServiceWA app, which is the fastest and most convenient method. They can also be submitted online or via post. Information on how to access these claim methods is available on the Department of Education's website at www.education.wa.edu.au/wasap.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"Providing cost of living relief is a top priority for my Government, which is why I encourage every WA family with school-aged children to make sure they claim their WA Student Assistance Payment by Friday 28 June.
"More than $67 million has already been distributed to WA families to help with the costs of sending their children to school.
"These payments are helping to purchase new school shoes, uniforms, books, lunches and other essentials right across the state.
"There is still plenty of time for families to claim their payments, but we will have more to say soon about how we will make sure any leftover funds are put back into the pockets of WA families."
As stated by Education Minister Tony Buti:
"The cost of living pressures are undeniable, and Western Australians are feeling the impact across many areas of their lives. I am thrilled to see that this payment is reaching families when they need it the most.
"I encourage anyone who has not yet claimed to do so before the claims period closes at the end of this week."
