Flinders University's solid underlying performance in research and education is reflected in the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) analysis for 2019.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling says Flinders has improved its position and is now close to the top of the 401-500 band of the ARWU ranking.
"Our strengthened focus on quality of research, quality of research outputs, and the quality of the teaching programs is underscored by our recently announced additional $100m investment in research and extra $100m investment in education over the next five years.
"We are also embarking upon a bold campus expansion in Flinders Village which will attract $1.5bn in economic activity, bolster research and teaching facilities and enhance the student experience.
"Our modernisation strategy is creating a future focused, 21st century-calibre university that is innovative and globally competitive. This is fundamental to not just our success as an institution, but the success of our students.
"We're delivering research which is tackling the challenges of our time and developing highly skilled graduates equipped with the critical thinking skills to make a difference" Professor Stirling says.
"This result is testament to our dedicated staff who are committed to exceptional research and education" Professor Stirling says.
Published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the ARWU rankings assess several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in the journals Nature and Science, papers indexed in major citation indices, and an institution's per capita academic performance.
