NSW Reconstruction Authority's mobile recovery assistance service will be on hand at Dareton's George Gordon Oval for the Annual Pooncarie vs Anabranch Cricket Match, an event that helps raise awareness around men's mental health on Saturday 21 January.
The mobile service, along with the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP), will provide face-to-face access to a range of Government and NGO flood recovery support.
The NSW Reconstruction Authority and Wentworth Shire Council - with the support of Coomealla Wentworth Cricket Club - is pleased to coordinate a whole-of-government service on the day to ensure the community knows what resources are available following major flooding in the region.
FLOOD ASSISTANCE SERVICE AT GEORGE GORDON OVAL
WHEN: Saturday, 21 January, from 5:00pm
WHERE: Belar Street, Dareton
Event organiser and Coomealla Wentworth Cricket Club representative Sholto Douglas expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration.
"Combining this support with the cricket day is a great chance for us to bring these services into our community at a time and place where they can relax with their friends and family, find out what assistance is available and watch a great cricket match. It's a win-win for everyone," he said.
NSW Reconstruction Authority Director Riverina Murray Donna Argus praised the collaboration.
"The cricket match is a wonderful occasion for the community to come together and we are delighted to support the event by coordinating attendance from services to assist people in their flood recovery journey," Ms Argus said.
Wentworth Shire Council general manager Ken Ross said "The game is an opportunity to provide the community with information for their flood recovery needs and promote support for mental health.
"Being able to access these services, all in one place through face-to-face conversations, makes it easier and speeds up the ability for the community to receive the support they need."
Flood recovery services will be on the ground from 5pm, with tea at 6.30pm and the match commencing at 7.30pm.
