Initial Flood Warning for the Nerang and Coomera Rivers

RIVER LEVELS ARE RISING ACROSS THE GOLD COAST RIVER CATCHMENTS

Intense rainfall from shower and thunderstorm activity has led to rapid river level and creek rises, with localised flooding across the catchment area.

Rainfall totals of between 60 - 160 mm has been observed in the catchment area since 9am Sunday morning, with the heaviest rainfall in the last 3 hours.

Pimpama and Coomera Rivers:

River level rises and minor flooding is occurring in the Pimpama and Coomera River, in response to heavy rainfall.

Nerang River:

Strong creek and river level rises are occurring in the catchment in response to heavy rainfall.

The Nerang River at Clearview is currently at 3.34 metres (below minor) and rising.

The Nerang River at Evandale is currently at 0.43 metres (below minor) and rising.

Mudgeeraba Creek:

Moderate flooding and river level rises are occurring in the Mudgeeraba Creek in response to heavy rainfall.

Tallebudgera and Currumbin Creeks:

Major flooding is occurring in the Tallebudgera Creek and river levels are rising in the Currumbin creek, in response to heavy rainfall. River levels will continue to respond quickly to any further rainfall in the area.
