Moderate flood warnings are currently in place for the Orara River and for the Clarence River at Grafton, with minor flooding expected at Ulmarra.
The Clarence River at Grafton (Prince St) may reach the moderate flood level (3.60 m) this afternoon.
The Clarence River at Ulmarra was expected to exceed the minor flood level (2.10 metres) about 6am Friday. The river level is likely to peak near 2.80 metres around Friday
evening, with minor flooding.
Low lying farmland may be affected, farmers are advised to monitor equipment and livestock.
At Nymboida:
• Buccarumbi Bridge is closed
• Boundary Creek Road is closed
• Leightons Range Road is closed
At Baryulgil and Copmanhurst:
• Lilydale Road is closed. Alternate routes via Clarence Valley Way and Gwydir Highway
At Grafton:
• Water starts to back up Cowans Creek, on the western side of South Grafton
• Low-lying properties on Carrs Island may become flood affected
• Take care around the South Grafton Rowing Club
At Ulmarra:
• Ulmarra Ferry may cease to operate
• Low lying farmland may be affected
• Tucabia – Tyndale Road at Tucabia may close in several locations
• Bostock Road and Somervale Road may close isolating some farming properties
At Lawrence:
• Lawrence Ferry may cease to operate
People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding should consider refraining from driving or walking through flood water, and monitoring emergency warnings and severe weather updates on local ABC radio, NSW SES Northern Rivers Facebook Page and Bureau of Meteorology website.
If your property is at risk of inundation, please raise moveable items, such as furniture, as high as possible onto benches or tables, placing electrical items on top.
If you live in a low-lying area and are advised by an emergency services officer to evacuate, please do so.
