Police are urging motorists "If it's flooded, forget it" after several cars became stuck in floodwaters across the State this morning.
One car became trapped in floodwater at Caroona Road, Port Augusta about 7.30am, then a second vehicle became stuck when it tried to assist. The driver was rescued by MFS crews.
Another motorist was able to get out of their car after it became stuck in a foot of water (about 30 cm) on the Stuart Highway between Port Augusta and Pimba about 8.20am.
At 9am, an SUV became partially submerged in floodwater on the Outback HIghway, Beltana Station. Luckily, the driver was able to get out of the car. The road will remain closed for most of the day.
Emergency services have received reports the main street in Yongala is completely under water and trucks and vehicles on the road are sending waves of water into houses.
Drivers are urged to look out for flooding, pay attention to depth gauges and heed warning signs.
