Green FOGO bins are being delivered to households in the Lithgow Local Government Area, with a kerbside bin service. Collection of the new green bin starts the week of 4 March. The green bin will be collected on the same day as your red bin.
Your new green bin comes with a kitchen caddy and an information pack explaining how to use the new service.
The green bin is a Food Organics and Garden Organics bin - or FOGO bin. Your green FOGO bin takes all your garden plant waste, including grass clippings, flowers, leaves, twigs, weeds and food waste.
You can also put all your food scraps in your green FOGO bin, including meat, bones, seafood, fish bones, prawn shells and other shells, dairy food, bread, biscuits, cakes, other baked goods, fruit and vegetables.
From 4 March 2024, the food and garden waste collected in your FOGO bin is heading towards a greener future. Your FOGO is turned into professionally treated compost which is used to improve soil conditions at amenities such as sporting fields. FOGO is a game changer.
Your green bin will come with everything you need to make recycling food and plants easy, including a kitchen caddy
