From time to time, Council receives requests from fencing contractors acting on behalf of a resident to obtain their neighbour's contact information to organise the installation of a new boundary fence.
In accordance with 2014 updates to the Victorian Government's Fences Act 1968, Council can only provide details of property owners to the owners of an adjoining property. Unfortunately, this legislation does not allow fencing contractors to obtain these details on behalf of a property owner.
These changes allow both parties to have equal input into the fencing works by discussing the project in advance, including the appointment of a fencing contractor.
