Football Federation Australia (FFA) is offering the football community another bumper week of entertainment, as the Federation seeks to offer the football community a diverse range of content to stay connected throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
FFA continues to relive some of Australian football's most memorable moments with its football family and has arranged for Australia's epic 3-1 win over England from Upton Park from February 2003 to be replayed on Tuesday.
The match - which saw Australia defeat England in an 'A' international for the first time with help from goals to Tony Popovic, Harry Kewell, and Brett Emerton - will commence at 7:30pm AEST on Tuesday, 21 April, and will be able to be viewed via both Facebook and YouTube.
The Socceroos' official social media handles will also provide coverage of the match as if it were being played 'live', offering an unique perspective of a game that was contested before those platforms were launched.
Australia's fixture against England in East London was played in front of over 30,000 supporters and featured a raft of great names in both teams, including David Beckham, Mark Viduka, Michael Owen, and Craig Moore, to name a few. Vince Grella and Wayne Rooney both made their debuts in the match as second half substitutes.
In addition, this week marks the start of a month of Hyundai A-League Grand Final replays, giving the football community the chance to celebrate some of the most historic Hyundai A-League Grand Finals.
The month of Hyundai A-League Grand Finals will commence on Wednesday with the 2012 decider between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory premiering live and free on the Hyundai A-League's Facebook page and Instagram TV, and the My Football YouTube Channel. The full list of matches for this week are listed below.
FFA Chief Executive Officer, James Johnson, said that FFA expects another positive week in social and digital engagement.
"We have seen huge numbers continue to engage with us via our digital platforms, and on Easter Saturday recorded more strong interactions with a triple-header of activity across the Socceroos, Westfield Matildas, and FFA Cup platforms," Johnson said.
"The England-Australia match was requested by many supporters after we played the Australia-Uruguay thriller, and I am pleased that our team has been able to gain the relevant permissions to make this Tuesday's activity happen. We would also like to acknowledge the Football Association (FA) in England for assisting FFA with this initiative, demonstrating the power of football to bring us all together.
"The England-Australia game will underpin another content-rich week across the FFA network, with three memorable Hyundai A-League Grand Finals of yesteryear also being featured across the Hyundai A-League's digital platforms.
"I would like to thank and congratulate the football community for doing a brilliant job of staying connected and engaged with the game during these difficult times. It is important that we all continue to remain positive and optimistic, and we are excited to be able to relive these wonderful moments together," he said.
