Former civilian employee charged over weapon possession

A former NSW Police Force civilian employee has been charged with allegedly possessing prohibited weapons.

Earlier this year, officers from North Shore Police Area Command commenced an investigation after being notified a former employee was found in possession three canisters of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray.

Following inquiries, a 52-year-old woman was issued a Court Attendance Notice yesterday (Tuesday 3 August 2021), for larceny and three counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.

Police will allege in court the items were stolen from a Sydney police station while she was employed as a civilian staff member between 2005 and 2016.

The woman is due to appear in Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 15 September 2021.
