Former Officer Charged With Drug Supply Offences

A former police officer has been charged with alleged drug supply offences.

In January 2024, officers from Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Migg, a joint NSW Police Force/Australian Federal Police investigation, to investigate reports of alleged drug use and drug supply in the ACT.

Following inquiries, about 9.50pm on Saturday 4 May 2024, a 27-year-old man – who was a police officer attached to a command within the Southern Region at the time of the alleged offences – was arrested at a licensed premises in Hobart Place, Canberra, for supplying a prohibited drug.

As the man was arrested and the offences are alleged to have occurred in the ACT, the man was charged by the Australian Federal Police with the Commonwealth offence of trafficking in a controlled drug (other than cannabis), contrary to Section 603 (7) of the Criminal Code 2022 (ACT legislation).

On Tuesday 13 August 2024, the summons for the charges was served on the man's legal representative.

The matter will be heard in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday 16 September 2024.

The man is no longer employed by the NSW Police Force.
