Victoria University, a global leader in sport education, is hosting an online forum to encourage young women to pursue careers in sport.
In this rapidly evolving sector, opportunities for young women to follow careers in the industry are increasing. This is largely attributable to people who are passionate about removing barriers that stand in the way of them working in sport and achieving their full potential. Inspirational women focused on driving young women in sport will present.
Sporting experts to present
Professor Clare Hanlon, the Susan Alberti Women in Sport Chair at Victoria University, will deliver the opening address and draw on research insights on the importance of girls participating in sport and speak with Sarah Styles, Director Women in Sport and Recreation, Victorian Government to identify her focus on encouraging women in sport.
Mel Jones OAM, will be the keynote speaker. Mel is a director at Cricket Australia, member on the International Cricket Commission's Women's Committee, cricket commentator and presenter. Mel is a Victoria University graduate and represented Australia in cricket winning two Ashes series and two World Cups.
The panel will comprise Susan Alberti AC, Bianca Chatfield and Georgia Broadbent.
Susan, the leading force behind the establishment of the Australian Football League's elite women's competition (AFLW), is a tireless advocate for healthier living through sport, strong supporter of the women in sport focus at Victoria University, and is at the forefront of Australian and international efforts to cure, prevent and better treat Type 1 diabetes.
Bianca, head coach of the VU Netball Academy, is a Commonwealth Games Gold and Silver medalist and World Champion. She works in sports media and as a leadership consultant, is a director on the Ready Foundation board and the MCG Trust, and author of the book Every Girl Needs a Plan.
Georgia, a recent VU graduate, works with the VFLW team at Williamstown Football Club as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

The Careers for Young Women in Sport online forum will be held on Thursday 2 September, 9am to 2.30 pm.
The event is designed for girls in Years 10-12 who aspire to a career in the sports industry.
