A new panellist will join the AMA's webinar on supporting doctors and medical students with a disability.
Dr Matthew French of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) has joined the line up for the AMA's webinar supporting doctors and medical students with a disability on Tuesday 26 September.
The upcoming webinar follows the release of the AMA's position statement on supporting doctors and medical students with a disability. The statement calls for a profession-wide approach that will set the health sector up for inclusivity to encourage and retain doctors and trainees with a disability into the profession.
Dr French is the Regional Director of Training with ACRRM and will provide a college perspective on supporting doctors with a disability to progress through their training.
He will join Clinical Associate Professor Lisa Meeks of the University of Michigan Medical School, who is widely considered the leading expert on disability inclusion in medical education. Her work has been published in leading medical journals including the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine and in the Washington Post, CNBC News, Bloomberg Law, and TIME magazine.
Dr Dinesh Palipana is a member of the AMA Equity Inclusion and Diversity Committee who led the development of the position statement and has spoken highly of the support ACRRM have given him in facilitating his training.
