Four Charged in Pemulwuy Kidnapping

Robbery & Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged four people over an alleged kidnapping in Sydney's west earlier this month.

About 7.15am on Tuesday 11 February 2025, police were called to Driftway Drive in Pemulwuy, following reports of a kidnapping.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found a 26-year-old man suffering minor injuries.

Police were told the man had been travelling in his ute when an allegedly stolen white Mercedes blocked his car.

Three unknown males wearing face coverings got out of the Mercedes and approached the man, armed with a baseball bat and machete.

The man's ute was damaged by the unknown males, before he was forced into their Mercedes.

The man escaped when the car stopped, and he was able to call police.

The three males fled into bushland before police arrived.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police established a crime scene and commenced initial inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident before the matter was referred to State Crime Command's Robbery & Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Velinda.

Following extensive inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 February 2025), strike force detectives – with assistance from Raptor Squad – arrested a 19-year-old man at a café in Telopea.

The man was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and participate in a criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025).

Strike Force investigators later executed a search warrant at Mt Druitt address.

About the same time, strike force detectives attempted to talk to a 16-year-old in Oakhurst. The boy resisted and attempted to destroy his mobile phone before he was arrested.

During a subsequent search warrant at Oakhurst, with assistance from the Public Order & Riot Squad, detectives seized clothing relevant to their investigation.

The boy was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and participate in a criminal group.

The boy was refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today.

About 12.40pm, with assistance from Raptor Squad and Cumberland Police Area Command, strike force detectives executed a search warrant in Guildford where they arrested a 17-year-old boy.

During the search, police located and seized a number of items relevant to their investigation, five mobile phones, a CCTV hard drive, stolen registration plates, a false NSW driver's licence, 500 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, and a small amount of cannabis.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, participate in a criminal group, possess identity info to commit etc indictable offence, breach of bail, two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (motor vehicle), and six counts of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The boy was refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today.

About 1.30pm, strike force detectives – with assistance from the Public Order & Riot Squad – executed a search warrant in Minchinbury, where they arrested an 18-year-old man.

During a search of the home, police seized two mobile phones.

The man was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and participate in a criminal group.

He was refused bail to appear in a Children's Court today.
