Four men have been charged following a police operation investigating stolen vehicles and fires at Orange, NSW Police say.
Since June 2017, more than 30 vehicles, predominately older-model utilities, have been stolen from within the Orange township, and found burnt out in the surrounding state forests.
Strike Force Yiddah was established by Canobolas Proactive and Property Investigation Team to investigate the theft and arson of these vehicles, with the assistance Canobolas detectives and the State Crime Command’s Property Crime Squad.
Following inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested at a home on Raines Place about 4pm yesterday (Thursday 25 January 2018).
When a search warrant was executed at the home, police located and seized 15 mobile telephones, five laptop computers, and electronic storage devices.
About 4.15pm (Thursday 25 January 2018), two men, aged 18 and 23, were arrested at a home on Amaroo Crescent. A 21-year-old man was also arrested at a home on Richards Place.
The men were taken to Orange Police Station.
The 18-year-old man was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; he has been refused bail to appear in a children’s court today (Friday 26 January 2018). Police allege the man was a juvenile at the time.
He was also charged with resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty and refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Friday 26 January 2018).
The three men, aged 18, 21 and 23, were charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread; they have been refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Friday 26 January 2018).
