Four New Sustainable Social Homes For Denmark

  • Four new three-bedroom, two-bathroom affordable homes for Denmark
  • Delivered through Cook Government's 'Call for Submissions for Social Housing'
  • Part of the Cook Government's $4.5 billion housing and homelessness measures

Four new social homes will be delivered in the South West town of Denmark through the Cook Labor Government's Call for Submissions for Social Housing initiative.

These all-electric three-bedroom, two-bathroom family units will be built to a silver Livable Homes standard and will be purchased off the plan from developers, Tara and Michael Nairn, who will commence construction on the Ocean Beach Road site in early 2025.

The Cook Labor Government's Call for Submissions initiative invites private industry to help deliver liveable and sustainable apartment and grouped-dwelling residential developments for social housing in Perth and regional Western Australia.

Submissions under the Call for Submissions that have development approval and have a builder ready to go, demonstrate value-for-money, innovation, and sustainable development initiatives will be highly regarded.

The Call for Submissions process is a part of the Cook Government's record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures.

As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:

"Our Government's message is clear - we're doing everything we can to bolster the supply of housing throughout Western Australia - particularly across regional WA.

"Through our reforms, the Call for Submissions process invites submissions from the WA housing sector to deliver social housing in Perth or regional WA, with a priority on the delivery of apartment or grouped-dwelling developments.

"Through this process, developers Tara and Michael Nairn, submitted a proposal to add four new, sustainable family homes in Denmark for social housing.

"Since the Cook Labor Government's record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures, we've added more than 2,700 social homes with more than 1,000 social homes currently under contract or construction throughout Western Australia."

As stated by Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie:

"I am proud to have been a strong advocate for these new social homes in Denmark, ensuring our community gets the affordable, safe, and secure housing it needs.

"Access to quality housing is a foundation for strong and thriving communities, and I've worked hard to make sure Denmark is a priority. These four three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes will provide vital support to local families who need it most.

"As part of the Cook Labor Government, I'm committed to improving housing solutions across our region, backed by our record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness initiatives."
