Tuesday, 3 December marks International Day of People with Disability. This globally recognised day aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

We're proud to offer a range of services to people with disability. This includes introducing sensory sessions at our events such as Orange Blossom Festival and the Mayor's Children's Christmas Party.

International Day of People with Disability Event

10am – 1pm Saturday 7 December

Powerhouse Castle Hill, 2 Green Road, Castle Hill

Cost: FREE – register your attendance and receive a FREE ice cream

Come along to this special sensory-friendly celebration for people of all abilities at the Powerhouse Museum. This FREE event will be a fun, inclusive, and engaging day for participants to socialise, connect with, and learn about the many support services available for people with disabilities.

Enjoy exciting activities such as:

  • A silent disco
  • Roving entertainers such as Sally Bubbles
  • Face painting
  • Craft activities like making paper helicopters
  • Mars Rover demonstrations
  • Meeting disability service providers at stalls
  • Free ice cream

Waves Fitness & Aquatic Centre

Waves Fitness & Aquatic Centre, 44 Mileham Avenue, Baulkham Hills

COST: Entry fees apply

Enjoy a swim at Waves with the range of accessible features available, including a basement car park lift, universal ambulant/access toilets, portable pool hoist, aquatic "wet chairs", wheelchair accessibility, and ramp accessibility throughout the centre.

Sensitive Library

9:30am – 10:00am, every Wednesday

Baulkham Hills Library, Railway Street, Baulkham Hills

Cost: FREE – bookings required

Join the Sensitive Library time at Baulkham Hills Library which caters for library members with hyper-sensitive and neurodivergent needs. The quiet environment provides a light and noise sensitive friendly time at the library for half an hour each Wednesday.

Sensitive Storytime

9:30am – 10:15am, every Tuesday

Castle Hill Library, 14 Pennant Street, Castle Hill

Cost: FREE – no bookings required

Sensitive Storytime is for neurodivergent children aged between 2 to 5 years old. These sessions are a sensitive, friendly time for children and their families to enjoy stories, songs, and a variety of sensory experiences each Tuesday.
