Free Cat Desexing for Georges River Residents

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is excited to offer FREE cat desexing and microchipping vouchers for residents from March.

A limited number of vouchers will be available to approved residents for free cat desexing and microchipping services which will be undertaken at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home in Strathfield.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Ensuring the health and wellbeing of our community's cats is a vital part of responsible pet ownership", she said.

"Our free cat desexing program is a proactive step towards reducing overpopulation, preventing the spread of disease, and giving our local cats the best chance at a happy, healthy life. This initiative not only supports our residents but also creates a safer, more sustainable environment for all."

Desexing is the most effective way to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of homeless cats. Desexing also improves your cat's health and reduces behavioural issues. Cats can start breeding from as young as four months and owners of cats not desexed by this age must pay an annual permit fee.

Residents can apply for a voucher via an online form. Proof of residency and valid ID is required when applying.
