Free Child Restraint Safety Checks

Children in safety seats

Parents across the Snowy Monaro are invited to take advantage of a new round of free child restraint safety check vouchers, made available thanks to Snowy Monaro Regional Council with funding from the Transport for NSW Road Safety Program.

Baby and booster seats are a vital piece of safety equipment that keep your kids safe when you're on the road, but only when they're fitted correctly and in good condition.

It's the law in Australia that all children:

  • Younger than six months old must be secured in a rear-facing restraint
  • Six months to four years old must be secured in a rear or forward-facing restraint
  • Aged four years and over must be secured in a forward-facing restraint or booster seat
  • Younger than four years of age must travel in the back seat of a vehicle with two or more rows
  • Children 145cm and taller can use regular seatbelts, this is the recommended minimum height to use an adult lap-sash

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is providing free child restraint safety check vouchers that can be redeemed at a local Authorised Restraint Fitter in Cooma.

Voucher numbers are limited, so register today to help keep your family safe on the road. Visit https://qrco.de/freechecks-SMRC to secure your spot.
