Free Children's Week Fun for Families

City of Darwin is hosting a range of free events in celebration of Children's Week.

The Children's Artwork Exhibition, featuring artwork from talented young Darwin artists, will launch on Saturday 19 October at the Casuarina Library.

Families can also enjoy free movie screenings and family fun events throughout the week.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said Children's Week was a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of children in the community and enjoy quality family time.

"The launch of the Children's Artwork Exhibition will be a fantastic event with some impressive artwork on display from our talented young artists," Mr Vatskalis said.

"The family fun events provide a great opportunity to celebrate children and families and we have a range of free events available to enjoy," he said.

City of Darwin's Children's Week activities include:

  • Children's Artwork Exhibition launch - Saturday 19 October from 9.30am to 11.30am at Casuarina Library. Includes a free morning tea and the chance to win door prizes.
  • Free Movie Screening - Tuesday 22 October from 3.30pm until 5.30pm at the City Library, featuring a free screening of "Embrace Kids" by Taryn Brumfitt.
  • Free Family Fun Morning Event - Wednesday 23 October from 9am until 12pm at Jingili Water Gardens. Children aged 0 - 5 years can stop by the Fun Bus or check out the pop-up Library before enjoying included morning tea.
  • Free Family Fun Afternoon Event - Friday 25 October from 3pm until 6pm at Lake Alexander. Children aged 0 - 12 years can take part in wet and wild play activities and enjoy the Fun Bus and Fun in the Parks programs.

Children's Week 2024 runs from Saturday 19 October until Sunday 27 October.
