Come and learn how to turn food scraps into nutrient-rich fertilizer, and reduce landfill at the same time, at one of our free home composting and worm farming workshops for all Eurobodallans.
"In 90 minutes, we'll show you how to set up your own compost bin and keep it thriving," says Shanna Provost, who's been teaching Council's home composting workshops for eight years.
"Mother Nature is composting all the time, and the hot composting process we teach simply enhances that process and adapts it to suit your backyard" she says.
With 40 years' experience, Brick Colley is equally excited to share his passion for worm farming with residents. "Worms are nature's tiny recyclers" says Brick. "They produce liquid gold for your garden and the money you save adds up".
"36.6 percent of Eurobodalla's red-lidded garbage bin contents is food waste", says waste services coordinator Mel Norman. "Those food scraps unnecessarily end up in landfill where they contribute to overflow and the production of methane, which is about 30 times as potent as carbon dioxide".
"Organic recycling is the most environmentally and economically effective way to manage the waste we create," says Mel.
