- Free festival to be held on Sunday, 24 November, at Burswood Park
- Event to celebrate Western Australia, following cancellation of the Festival in June
- Festival to showcase WA music, in partnership with RTRFM
Burswood Park will come alive in November with a free family festival to celebrate Western Australia and the start of summer - including a showcase of WA's best local music.
The event will be held in place of this year's WA Day Festival, which was cancelled in June due to adverse weather conditions.
The one-day festival will feature the State's largest drone show, fireworks, live music, carnival rides, food trucks and other attractions.
In partnership with RTRFM, the festival will showcase WA music icons, with the full line-up to be announced in coming months.
Entry to the festival will be free, and families can take advantage of the Cook Government's free public transport on Sunday to get to and from the event.
The WA Day Festival will be held in conjunction with The West Test between Australia and India at Optus Stadium on Sunday, 24 November, providing Western Australians and visitors with a series of activations and events at the Stadium precinct.
The Cook Government provided $2 million to support Celebrate WA's WA Day festivities across WA this year, with Lotterywest providing a further $1.25 million.
Celebrate WA is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for promoting and organising the annual WA Day celebrations and Western Australian of the Awards. Visit waday.com for more information on the event.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"While we were disappointed to see the June event cancelled, we promised we'd bring the WA Day Festival back later in the year - and we're delivering.
"This is the perfect way to kick off summer - a free festival showcasing the very best of WA.
"We live in the greatest State in the country, and this is an opportunity to celebrate everything we love about WA."
