Helping to rehabilitate koala habitats on the mid north coast will receive an excellent boost as the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital's annual koala food tree giveaway takes place from next week.
The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital's koala food tree giveaway begins on Monday 28 March, running from Monday to Saturday and will continue until the supply of trees is exhausted.
To order your FREE trees, please use the Tree Giveaway Form
Trees will be available from the Koala Hospital in Roto House Historic Site, Lord Street, Port Macquarie.
This year's program is a joint initiative between the Koala Hospital and the Forestry Corporation of NSW, offers four different species to suit different soil and habitat locations:
- Eucalyptus microcorys (Tallowwood)
- Eucalyptus propinqua (Grey Gum)
- Eucalyptus robusta (Swampy Mahogany)
- Eucalyptus tereticornis (Forest Red Gum)
It is important to plant the right tree species in the right location. Luckily a Koala Habitat Planting Map has been developed as part of the Koala Recovery Partnership. To find out which species are best for your property, follow the steps using the online Koala Habitat Planting Map.
