Leeton Shire Council is conducting a free microchipping day for dogs and cats at the Parkview Tennis Clubhouse on Saturday, 2 November 2024.

Council's free microchipping day is being held to encourage responsible pet ownership.

"If your cat or dog becomes lost, you are far more likely to be reunited if they are microchipped," said Council's Manager Planning, Building and Health Francois Van Der Berg.

"Should your pet wander off or become lost, Council, vets and animal shelters can scan your pet for a microchip and contact you via the Companion Animal Registry database."

"In March, we had a successful turnout with 41 dogs and cats being microchipped. We hope the community takes up this opportunity and comes out in similar numbers," Mr Van Der Berg added.
