In response to current COVID-19 restrictions, Swan Hill Rural City Council will be offering free parking in the Swan Hill CBD.
Mayor Bill Moar said in light of the current COVID-19 situation Council had made the decision to deactivate their parking meters, once again.
"While payment is not required for meters, parking signage must still be followed.
"This includes time limits on parking, as well as loading and disabled parking bays.
"Parking turnover is important to ensure customers can still access the services that they need, Cr Moar said.
Cr Moar said Council hoped free parking may assist locals to continue supporting businesses that remain open for take away and click and collect.
"We hope our free parking makes it a little easier to continue to support our local businesses during these difficult times," Cr Moar said.
Council will be issuing fines to people that are not following parking signage.
Parking will be free in the Swan Hill CBD until Sunday, 19 September 2021.
