Riverfire patrons are encouraged to leave the car at home and catch public transport with free travel home and additional services.
More than 400,000 people attended Riverfire last year with crowd numbers expected to at least match that figure this year.
Free travel will be available after the fireworks from 7.30pm to 9pm from South Bank, South Brisbane, Roma Street and Central train stations, and from Woolloongabba, Mater Hill, South Bank, Queen Street, King George Square and Roma Street bus stations. The Cultural Centre Bus Station will be closed during this time.
There will be additional outbound services on 14 bus routes between 7.30pm and 9pm and a 15-minute service frequency on all train lines in the same period, excluding trains to Doomben, Rosewood and Nambour.
All CityCats will cease operating between 6.45pm and 7.45pm, however they will resume after the fireworks have finished with additional services. There is no free travel on CityCat services and limited services between Northshore Hamilton and Mowbray Park will still be in operation.
With some road closures, heavy traffic and a large amount of people departing from South Bank after the completion of the fireworks, Translink asks customers to be patient while taking public transport home.
It is important that customers plan their travel in advance to ensure they can easily arrive and depart from Riverfire, so Translink encourages them to download the MyTranslink app, visit the Translink website or call 13 12 30.
