A school holiday bus timetable will be in place from Monday 23 December to Sunday 2 February 2025 inclusive.
This will include free travel for the Canberra community on Christmas Day and from 5:00 pm on New Year's Eve for all bus and light rail services.
The school holiday bus timetable will deliver the same reliable network and frequency that is currently in place while only removing the school services and diversions over the six-week holiday period.
All local bus services will operate at a 30-minute frequency up until 7:00 pm, and then move to hourly thereafter (this is the same frequency as the timetable currently in place). Rapid bus services will run to normal frequency.
The standard Saturday and Sunday timetables will remain in place over the school holiday period with a Sunday bus timetable in place for all public holidays, excluding Christmas Day.
Christmas Day
Travel on Christmas Day is FREE on both bus and light rail services.
Local bus services run to a Christmas Day timetable, and Rapid bus services will run at the normal frequency, from 06:30 am to 6:30 pm. Light rail will run to a regular Sunday frequency.

New Year's Eve
To support Canberrans attending New Year's Eve celebrations, Transport Canberra will be providing FREE travel from 5:00 pm until the last service for bus and light rail services.
On New Year's Eve, the regular bus timetable will run until 7:30 pm, followed by additional rapid services scheduled after 7:30 pm (excluding route 8) to support the Canberra community to attend local events while they bring in the new year.
Light rail will deliver an extended timetable and increased services on New Year's Eve. This will offer 7.5-minute frequency from 6:30 pm, and then 10-minute frequency from approximately 10:30 pm until last service from Alinga Street at 1:30 am.
Passengers are encouraged to tap on and off with their preferred payment method, which includes a debit card, credit card, MyWay+ card, smartphone with Apple Pay, Google Wallet or QR code.
This is to assist with patronage data for future planning purposes. You will not be charged a fare on Christmas Day or after 5:00 pm on New Year's Eve, no matter how you decide to tap on or off.
Travel on bus and light rail services is also free on all Fridays as part of a 12-month trial.
