Residents in Exmouth, Jurien Bay, Cue, Sandstone and Meekatharra can now take advantage of free waterwise offers as part of Water Corporation's 2022-23 Waterwise Towns Program.
The annual program was created to make it easier for regional Western Australians to save water around the home, with a free showerhead swap program and free plumbing and irrigation services included in this year's offers.
Plumbing services include a leak check and minor repairs, as well as upgrades to water-efficient appliances if required. In 2021-22, plumbing services delivered under the program to participating Mid-West towns helped save 4.5 million litres of water.
Jurien Bay and Exmouth residents can also apply for a free irrigation service. This includes a sprinkler check and help to set up irrigation systems to ensure they are operating efficiently.
In addition, some Exmouth residents will receive comparative water use letters to show how their water use compares to others in the town, along with tips and advice to help them use water efficiently.
The Showerhead Swap Program enables residents to save up to 20,000 litres of water per household by swapping inefficient showerheads for waterwise alternatives. In 2021-22, 202 Mid-West households took advantage of the offer, helping save around four million litres of water.
Since 2013-14, the State-wide Waterwise Town Program has saved an estimated 1.7 billion litres of precious water - equivalent to 756 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
Plumbing and irrigation services are limited, with registrations open until 1 May 2023. Showerhead Swap is available until 31 May 2023 or until allocations are exhausted.

As stated by Water Minister Dave Kelly:
"Some water leaks can be less obvious and hidden underground or within walls, and it could be months before they are even noticed.
"Saving water is up to all Western Australians, especially as we continue to adapt to the impact of reduced rainfall as a result of climate change on traditional water sources.
"By making these offers available, the State Government, through Water Corporation is making it easier for residents to identify leaks, upgrade inefficient appliances, and save precious water."
