Friends of the Library Mount Gambier will host their annual Big Book Sale on Saturday 27 July 2024 at Mount Gambier Library between 9:00am and 1:00pm providing the public with a chance to grab a bargain with thousands of books, DVDs and jigsaws for sale.
Friends of the Library President Chris Lloyd invites the community to donate items for sale in good condition between Saturday 13 July and Thursday 25 July.
"We welcome donations of books, jigsaws, board games and DVDs in good used condition. We do not accept donations of magazines, encyclopedias, or books in poor condition," Ms Lloyd said.
Items can be dropped to the Mount Gambier Library during opening hours.
The Big Book Sale is the major fundraiser for Friends of the Library each year with the money raised used to purchase a range of new items for the Library.
"Recent financial donations from the Friends of the Library's efforts have included the purchasing of new furniture to upgrade the Library's Youth Area and partial funding of the pool and table tennis tables," Ms Lloyd said.
Friends of the Library are also seeking new volunteers to join the committee. If you are interested, please speak with a Library staff member, or one of the committee members at the Big Book Sale.
"Volunteering on the committee is a small time commitment that has a big impact on what our wonderful Library can offer," said Chris Lloyd.
Manager Library and Community Development Georgina Davison said the Big Book Sale is one of the biggest events on the library calendar.
"Our book sale is always a popular event with customers lining up at the door before we open. We extend a huge thank you to the Friends of the Library committee for their ongoing support," Mrs Davison said.
