The new Brighton High School is shooting out of the ground with construction well underway ahead of students walking through the doors in 2025.
Brighton High School is one of three new schools being built, along with Legana and Sorell, under the Tasmanian Liberal Government.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, toured the construction site of the $74 million school on Tuesday.
Since 2014, the Liberal Government has provided record infrastructure funding to deliver 73 school upgrades across the State.
Premier Rockliff said the Tasmanian Government is delivering the education facilities Tasmanian students need, close to where they live as part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
"Brighton is one of Tasmania's fastest growing areas and this new school will support the growing number of families in the area," the Premier said.
"During the election, we announced 16 further public schools around Tasmania will receive major upgrades through our new School Building Blitz.
"We know there are more schools that need major upgrades which is why we are getting straight into planning for these new and improved school facilities."
Premier Rockliff said the Tasmanian Liberal Government is the best friend Tasmania's education system has ever had.
Along with the School Building Blitz, $10 million will be made available for school playground and sports court upgrades, for the shared benefit of schools and their local communities.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said it was so exciting to see the progress local construction firm Fairbrother has made at the Brighton site.
"Of course, a building is only one part of what makes a school," Minister Palmer said.
"There has been a lot of work happening in the background to prepare for students in 2025, with the Brighton community involved throughout the process to ensure they help shape the school.
"Developing the school identity has been a really important task and it is wonderful the community has been able to have a say on the school uniform colours and logo.
"The school will feature a multi-purpose hall, performing arts space, gymnasium and an outdoor learning street.
"I look forward seeing the construction phase of the Brighton High School completed, making way for students, staff and families next year."
