Fun, Free Things To Do These School Holidays

If your kids like to run, ride and read, check out what they can do for free in the City of Sydney during the spring school holidays.

Parks and playgrounds

There are lots of great parks and playgrounds across the inner city. With more than 400 parks to choose from, you can spend an afternoon at one of our expansive green spaces or visit your local pocket park. We've just finished renewing Woolloomooloo Playground so drop by for a spin in the hamster wheel.

Skate parks and cycling tips

If you're on track for more adventure, we've got epic skate parks at Sydney and Federal parks. The bike track at Sydney Park is another fun option. Free balance bike clinics for 3 to 8-year-olds and their carers also run from Monday 30 September to Friday 4 October at Sydney Park.

Sydney City Farm

Enjoy a free, seasonal guided walk at Sydney City Farm at Sydney Park from 1pm on Saturday 5 October. See what fresh food our volunteers are planting and discover herbs, vegies, flowers and fruits ready for harvest.

Libraries

Our state-of-the-art library facilities provide respite from busy city living with books, games, toys and puzzles available to borrow. We've also got free sessions during the holidays where kids can plant seeds or make bird feeders, wind chimes and macrame keyrings. Catch our last couple of HSC study nights at Green Square Library too.

Self-guided walks

Set your own pace and take in Sydney's sights using our Culture Walks app. Get your history, art or architectural fix on self-guided walking tours curated by the City of Sydney.

Neighbourhood street celebrations

Our Sydney Streets events are fun days out for the family featuring live music, business pop-ups, entertainers, kids activities and alfresco dining. Macleay Street in Potts Point will close to traffic from 11am to 1pm on Saturday 28 September with Glebe Point Road following suit on Saturday 12 October.
