Together with the Deledio Pavilion Reference Group, Central Goldfields Shire has welcomed the Federal Government's announcement of $1.5 million in funding for the Pavilion upgrade at the Deledio Recreation Reserve.
The funding - secured as part of the Growing Regions Program – is in addition to the $1 million announced in 2024 as part of the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports and Infrastructure Program.
Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Grace La Vella said the funding was welcome news for the Dunolly and surrounding community.
"We extend our thanks to the Federal Government for the $1.5 million in funding to deliver a brand new, modular-build, multi-use pavilion that will benefit the whole community.
"With the current facilities beyond useability – the local community has worked tirelessly for over two decades to get new clubrooms.
"We have been working closely with the Deledio Pavilion Reference Group to design the pavilion upgrade and apply for the grants needed to make this project a reality.
"Last year, we were successful in obtaining $1 million in funding as part of the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports and Infrastructure Program and we still await the outcome of our funding application to the Community Bank Maldon and District Community Grants Program.
"The project will replace the existing pavilion with a new facility that will include player and umpire change rooms, accessible player and public amenities, kitchen and kiosk facilities, offices, undercover community spaces, trainers rooms, and a first aid room. It will include rainwater harvesting infrastructure and solar power.
"The new facility will complement the new netball and multi-use sports courts constructed in 2024."
