Funding Boost Helps Diverse Communities Thrive

  • $3 million grant program to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities
  • Funding is available for upgrading, maintaining, and building new CaLD community facilities
  • Funding also provides a boost to local businesses and communities

Applications for the 2024 culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) Community Capital Works Fund are now open.

Administered by the Office of Multicultural Interests, this funding program provides grants of up to $500,000 to support CaLD community associations to upgrade, maintain and diversify community infrastructure.

This year, the program has been extended to include new builds, providing a great opportunity for newer community associations.

Funding will support CaLD community associations and community service organisations in bringing the community together to celebrate cultural traditions and pass on important knowledge and practices, contributing to our State's thriving multicultural society.

The funding will also boost the State's economic growth and development by creating more job opportunities for local businesses and communities, which will enhance the prosperity of Western Australia.

Applications close at 4:00 pm on Monday 23 September 2024.

Comments attributed to Citizenship and Multicultural Interests Minister Dr Tony Buti:

"Culturally appropriate and accessible community facilities that can accommodate the evolving needs of members are essential for supporting harmonious and inclusive communities in Western Australia.

"Most importantly, these spaces are the heart of CaLD communities, where people from all backgrounds can connect.

"Not only do they reduce social isolation among community members, particularly new migrants, refugees, young people, and seniors, but they also create opportunities for people to form life-long friendships and support networks.

"The Cook Government's investment of $5.4 million, last financial year, for renovations and maintenance of 31 CaLD community buildings and facilities through the CaLD Community Capital Works Fund has already provided significant infrastructure and social benefits for the State.

"I encourage eligible CaLD community associations to apply for the CaLD Community Capital Works Fund this year."
