Funding To Help Businesses 'Access Asia'

  • $325,000 awarded to 16 local businesses to help expand into Asian markets
  • Support for clean energy, agrifoods and medical manufacturing businesses
  • Part of Cook Government's plan to diversify Western Australia's economy and create local jobs

The Cook Government will deliver $325,000 in grant funding for 16 Western Australian businesses to support their expansion into new Asian markets and to create local jobs.

Under round six of the Access Asia Business Grants (AABG), the 16 local businesses will receive grants of up to $30,000 towards projects that advance their export and trade activities in the Asian market.

Projects funded in round six include developing an export strategy for locally-produced spirits, marketing an automated gas detection shutdown unit to the Southeast Asian market, scoping opportunities for WA-made solar and battery systems in Indonesia and Timor-Leste, and promoting Western Australian Ultra Running events across Asian markets.

AABG recipients are required to invest at least 20 per cent into their funded projects and will have six months to complete them.

Since its inception in 2019, the competitive grants program has awarded more than $1.7 million to 96 local businesses and organisations.
