The Broken Hill City Art Gallery is marking its 120th anniversary with a gala dinner event on November 8.

This dinner not only celebrates the gallery's rich history but also marks 20 years since its relocation and refurbishment, when it moved into its current home in Sully's Emporium.

First opened in 1904 in the city's Technical College with the bequest of three artworks by George McCulloch, one of the founders of BHP, the Broken Hill City Art Gallery has grown to house an impressive collection of artworks from Australia and overseas.

The 120th Anniversary Dinner will commence at 7pm and feature a three-course meal prepared by the award-winning Old Salt Bush Restaurant, led by acclaimed chef Lee Cecchin, known for her regional flavours.

Guests will enjoy canapés and a complimentary drink on arrival, with additional beverages available for purchase at the bar.

The evening will include entertainment from Jude Bowler, a character comedienne, and live music from local artists.

"This dinner marks a momentous occasion for both the gallery and the Broken Hill community," said Gallery and Museum Manager, Kathy Graham.

"The 120th anniversary allows us to reflect on our long history, as well as 20 years in our beautifully refurbished home.

"We look forward to welcoming guests to this special event and continuing to support both regional and national artists."

Tickets are priced at $120 for non-members and $100 for members, and can be purchased online at bhartgallery.com.au. Guests are encouraged to book early as space is limited.

The dress code for the evening is cocktail attire.
