A Helensvale woman and her family, who made light of winning the lottery in the past, are now reveling in the reality of their newfound fortune. The Gold Coast family is celebrating a win of $1.8 million from the recent Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
This lucky winner secured one of the 11 division one winning spots in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4409 on Saturday, 21 October 2023. Her total winnings amounted to $1,818,181.82.
Interestingly, this division one winning ticket was not registered. Consequently, lotto officials had no method to reach out to the winner. It was only when the winner herself decided to check her ticket at the local newsagency did she realize her massive win.
"Oh my god! Oh my god! I’ve never won that type of money in my life! Luckily, I’m sitting down, or I might fall over," when said, overwhelmed with emotion.
Despite not being a frequent player, this win was a pleasant surprise.
"I buy a QuickPick once in a while. The maximum I’ve ever won is $16 or $17 dollars," she recalled.
The family had always fantasized about such a win.
"Our family has always joked about what we would do if we won the Lotto. A lot of hypotheticals! It’s always, ‘If we win lotto, we could do this’. "
While still processing the win, the generous mum already has plans for her winnings.
"This is going to help my family so much! I’ll help my daughter and son because they need it the most. This is amazing."
The winning ticket was purchased from Pacific Fair News, located at Shop 1571 Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Hooker Boulevard, Broadbeach. The store owner, Anthony Milligan, and his team were ecstatic about the win.
"We were only speaking about how amazing it would be to sell a division one entry the other day, and then it happened!", said Anthony.
The numbers that brought joy to this Helensvale family in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4409 on 21 October 2023 were 30, 29, 7, 2, 31, and 12, with the supplementary numbers being 9 and 33.
