The City of Greater Geelong will proudly light City Hall in blue and white to celebrate the Geelong Cats making the AFL Grand Final.
As part of the build-up for the premiership decider, a special 'Go Cats' projection will light up the building's front façade from 8pm on Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Friday 23 September.
On these nights, blue and white lights will also be on show at various points along the Geelong Waterfront and at the Customs House water feature.
The Grand Final week displays add to the City's existing Cats-themed decorations, which have been activated since the beginning of the finals.
These include the Princes Freeway billboard at Lara, mobile billboards and banners.
The City is working with the Geelong Football Club to plan for civic and public safety arrangements in the event that the Cats win the flag.
The City encourages all members of the community to celebrate safely so that everyone can enjoy Grand Final day.
We're encouraging community members to enjoy the game with their family and friends at one of the many local venues hosting Grand Final celebrations.
Deputy Mayor Trent Sullivan
The Cats have brought our community such enjoyment this season with their performances and a premiership would be fitting reward. We encourage all Cats fans, no matter where they live, to show their colours by decorating their houses or shopfronts in blue and white and showing their support on social media.
We send our congratulations and best wishes to coach Chris Scott, all the players, their families and support staff. It takes a massive team effort to make it all the way to the big dance.
Sport Chair, Councillor Ron Nelson
The only thing better than seeing the Cats make it to the Grand Final would be seeing Chris Scott and Joel Selwood holding up the cup on Saturday evening. When Geelong is doing well the town is happy. It's an exciting week and it's sure to be a great day next Saturday – and importantly too, a successful one for our local hospitality venues.Let's all get behind the greatest team of all.
