Gel blaster fired in road rage incident

A teenager has been charged following an alleged road rage incident at Cavan last night.

About 7.50pm Thursday 18 January the victims were travelling along Port Wakefield Road when an altercation occurred with occupants in a Ford Falcon. The passenger in the Ford, who was wearing a balaclava, allegedly pointed a firearm out of the window and discharged a shot.

Thankfully the victims were not physically injured and reported the matter to police.

Following an investigation, about 2am this morning (Friday 19 January), officers from Northern District CIB and Operation Meld attended a Hectorville address and arrested a 17-year-old teen. Also located at the address was a black handgun style gel blaster firearm.

The teen has been charged with possess firearm without a licence, discharge a firearm and breach of bail. He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today (Friday 19).
