Georges River Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Georges River Community Infrastructure Needs Assessment and Acquisition Area Strategy.
The Strategy will guide the management of open spaces, community facilities and other infrastructure across the local government area (LGA) while also identifying and bridging gaps for the future.
Existing facilities are concentrated in the central and eastern parts of the Georges River LGA except for open spaces, sports fields and courts. This unequal distribution places pressure on assets that are catering to the local and wider community.
The Strategy will help to identify where opportunities exist to address these gaps and unequal distribution of open spaces and other infrastructure. The Strategy weighs up both current and projected population pressures and distribution patterns to understand areas of greatest need more holistically.
"The purpose of the Strategy is to guide the management and establishment of infrastructure in our LGA and identify where any future gaps can be closed," said Georges River Mayor Sam Elmir.
"Community feedback is essential to guide us and identify any further infrastructure needs.
"I encourage all members of the community to have their say on the Strategy and look forward to seeing the comments that are made."
The Draft Georges River Community Infrastructure Needs Assessment and Acquisition Area Strategy is on public exhibition until Tuesday 20 February 2024.
