Gerry Emery Clubhouse Funding

Kiama Council

Plan-Gerry-Emery-Clubhouse

Kiama Council is investing $75,000 to support the refurbishment and expansion of the clubhouse at Gerry Emery Reserve, Gerringong.

The Gerry Emery Clubhouse serves the Gerringong Breakers Football Club, Gerringong Jets Cricket Club and the Gerringong Touch Association.

The Gerringong District All Sports Inc (GDAS) is upgrading the clubhouse to provide female and referee change rooms, improved public toilets and car parking and increased equipment storage.

The plans also include adding a second storey to the clubhouse.

The GDAS received $466,000 from the NSW Government for the first stage of the work, along with a significant amount of GDAS funding and the generous support of local businesses and trades.

The GDAS has asked Council for funding support, following complications during construction, to achieve completion of the first stage whilst enabling the association to have sufficient reserves to apply for grants for the next stage of the project for a major accessibility upgrade.

Director Infrastructure & Liveability Michael Malone said Council's contribution would ensure the GDSA could complete stage one of the project.

"Sports organisations play an important part in our community, providing sporting and recreation activities and social connections," Mr Malone said.

"In this case, our investment will assist the GDAS to complete the upgrade of amenities not only for club members, players and officials, but the general public as well."

"This funding also ensures the GDSA can deliver stage one of their project and be eligible for further NSW Government funding for stage two."

The funding will be provided from Council's Development Contributions Reserve.

A council representative will be involved in project control meetings to monitor costs and quality of the construction work.
