Tasmanian Government

Youth Week Tasmania festivities commence today with many events happening right across the state.

Minister for Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, officially opened the event at the Link Health Service in Hobart.

"It was great to join our young people and staff at the Link who are taking on the challenge of designing and painting a large mural around this year's Youth Week theme of courage: stepping out of your comfort zone," Minister Jaensch said.

"Through the Tasmanian Government Youth Week Tasmania Grants program, 16 organisations received a share of $30,000.

"This allows them to deliver innovative and creative events and activities, that encourage young people to step outside their comfort zone, across all regions of Tasmania.

"Youth Week provides an important opportunity for young Tasmanians to be courageous and express their views and ideas, showcase their talents and engage with their local communities.

"Free and inclusive activities are happening across Tasmania. I would encourage all young Tasmanians to check out the activities on offer, challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone."

Some of the great activities include:

Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future includes support for young people across the State to learn and grow.

Youth Week is a celebration of our young people and recognises the value and contributions made by young Tasmanians aged 12-25 in their local communities.

A calendar of events is available at the Youth Network of Tasmania website.
