More affordable land is set to be brought to market through an extension of the Tasmanian Government's Residential Land Rebate program.
A further $10 million is being injected into round two of the program, on top of the $30 million initial investment that delivered more than 3,350 lots in round one.
Acting Minister for Housing and Planning, Roger Jaensch said the Government will continue its strong social and affordable housing agenda to deliver more than 10,000 new social and affordable homes by 2032, a key part of its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
"Applications are now open for this latest round, with funding of up to $15,000 available per lot for new residential land releases," Minister Jaensch said.
"This funding is available to subsidise the connection of essential services including power, water, and sewerage, which can add significant costs to land sales and housing builds.
"As an extra incentive for developers to encourage more land releases, this round we have included NBN infrastructure in the program," he said.
Payments will be made in two equal instalments, half of the total rebate upfront to support development costs and the second half paid when the affordable land is sold.
The program is eligible to applicants back to 1 July 2023 and closes on 31 July 2026 or when all funding has been allocated, whichever comes first.
