Getting Most Out Of New Sydney Gateway Connection

Sydney Gateway will provide a new, more direct connection from the WestConnex M4 and the WestConnex M8, to Sydney Airport and there is no additional toll to use Sydney Gateway.

Sydney Gateway includes more than five kilometres of new roads, including 19 new bridge connections around Tempe and Mascot and is being delivered by the NSW Government. Once the final stage is open, Sydney Gateway will have capacity for 100,000 vehicles and 10,000 trucks per-day. Instead of using local and arterial roads, Sydney Gateway offers a direct connection to Sydney Airport and Port Botany

The project began construction in 2021 and has opened in stages. The third and final stage which connects Gateway to WestConnex will open 1 September 2024.

Travelling from Parramatta to the Sydney Domestic Airport? Take WestConnex and Sydney Gateway to get there in around 25 minutes during morning peak, skipping up to 60 sets of traffic lights (compared to surface roads)

To assist your journey:

  • If you're travelling on the M4 from Parramatta, continue to use the Gardeners and Euston Road exit and then use the right two lanes to reach the airport.
  • When leaving the airport towards Canberra, look for the M8 signs to Liverpool.

Plan ahead and take a virtual drive of WestConnex to the airport using the Plan Your Journey tool.
