It's that time of year again when we pack away the goal posts and uncover the cricket wickets – and prepare our sporting grounds for another hot summer of sport.
Throughout September and October our teams will be out and about at sports ovals across Stonnington readying the grounds for the cricket, baseball and athletics seasons.
To get the grounds looking their best we'll be scarifying, aerating and undertaking pest and disease control on sportsgrounds across the municipality.
For our athletics clubs we will top up the jump pits with new washed sand and for the baseballers we're renovating the Wadsworth baseball diamond.
To prepare for the cricket season we are renovating nine turf centre and four practice wickets, and removing the winter covers and pressure washing synthetic centre and practice wickets.
We'll also be packing away AFL, rugby and soccer goals for another year – they'll be back in early-2025!
If you love your footy, there's still time to have a kick with AFL goals remaining until just after the AFL grand final at Righetti Oval, Basil Reserve, Como Park , Toorak Park and TH King Oval.
